Gladioli is a genus of the Iridaceae family and are cultivated from corms. Its name is derived from the Latin word ‘gladius’, meaning ‘sword'. This is because the shape of the gladiolus is similar to that of a sword. Hence why it is commonly referred to as the sword lily. Gladioli leaves are long and slender, also taking on the form of a sword.

Ever popular wedding flowers they are extremely useful for pedestal arrangements, when you need height. With vintage and traditional flowers currently enjoying increased popularity, gladioli are coming back into fashion as cut flowers. Gladioli are very budget friendly blooms, they look stunning arranged on their own in a tall cylinder vase.
