Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemums, often called mums or chrysanths, and commonly referred to as Xanth by florists, are flowering plants of the genus chrysanthemum in the family Asteraceae, native to Asia and northeastern Europe.

Ever popular, the chrysanthemum, symbolizes fidelity, optimism, joy and long life. One of the oldest known flowers, dating back to the 15 century BC when they were grown as flowering herbs by the Chinese. The Chrysanthemum was later introduced to Japan in the 8th century AD and the ruling Emperor adopted the flower as his official seal.
