Moss is a perennial firm favourite for use in glass terrariums and as a decorative lining for flower filled hanging baskets (moss lined hanging baskets look particularly effective when hung from the branches of trees) but has many other uses in floristry and crafting. Moss decorations are a great way to bring a touch of nature into special event or wedding venue decor. Choose from Finland moss, preserved flat moss or preserved tillandsia. Preserved moss is will add a lovely fresh, bright green touch to rustic or country style decor. Preserved moss is excellent to use for crafting projects, creating mossed table markers and the like. Moss has ever been the material of choice for model railway enthusiasts to create realistic looking ground cover and for crafting miniature trees and plants.
Preserved natural Finland moss (also called reindeer moss) is softened and colour enhanced for lasting beauty. Reindeer moss is ideal for covering soil and dressing container plants or to add a finishing touch to pot plants and is the perfect covering for the soil and provides excellent drainage on plants such as orchids and amaryllis, allowing air to get to the air roots. Finland moss is available in a choice of colours - natural, olive and dark green and is non toxic.
A styrofoam cone (available from our Foam section) covered in moss will make a minimalistic, striking and eye catching artificial topiary or Christmas tree that can be sited in areas where space is too restricted for a more traditional spreading tree shape. A moss covered wreath will bring a woodland touch to seasonal home decorations and can be left as it is with a simple ivy garland twisted round it for a minimalistic door wreath or decorated with seasonal ornaments, berries and cones. A simple hoop handled basket covered with moss makes a stunning Easter basket to fill with eggs and chenille chicks and other goodies.
