Known by many different names, traditional Pin Holders, Flower Frogs, Flower Spikes, Needle Holders, Ikebana plant stem holders and Kenzans, they are must have item for florists and flower arranging enthusiasts. Pinholders can be made of lead, pottery, glass, or bronze and sit at the bottom of a bowl or a vase to hold even the trickiest flower designs firmly and securely in place. Traditional pin holders, once considered old fashioned, have enjoyed a renaisance in recent years. These are constructed from pieces of lead with small metal spikes that hold flower stems in place within the arrangement. Pinholders take up only a small space in the container, but can support some of the heaviest and tallest flowers and foliage. They are ideal for use in shallow bowls and dishes and as an alternative to floral foam. Attach the pinholder to your container using Floral Fix, making sure its is balanced and not wobbly, retrim conditioned stems, starting with the tallest or focal flowers, push the stems down between the spikes. They are sold and supplied singly and available in a choice of sizes from 1.5 inches to 2.75 inches.
